Full Moon Family Walk @ Wright-Locke Farm

Elementary School Kids and their families, join us at Wright-Locke Farm for a Full Moon Walk! We'll hear stories about the Wolf Moon, take in the crisp winter air, and enjoy an easy guided walk around the farm property under the full wolf moon. Registration is required! We'll be meeting at the the All Seasons Barn at Wright-Locke Farm, located at 82 Ridge Street Winchester, Ma 01890.

Future Tense | A Benefit for Griffin Museum

Join us for a special evening to support the Griffin Museum of Photography. We have set a goal of raising $25,000 to support our exhibitions, operations, and programming. You are cordially invited to an evening of creativity engaging all of your senses, celebrating 32 years of the Griffin Museum leading the way showcasing the craft and artists in photography. Get a Cultural Grant: Information Workshop

The Winchester Cultural Council presents a grant information session on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 5–6:30 p.m., at the Winchester Public Library, 80 Washington Street. (The grant presentation will probably start around 5:15). The Cultural Council has good funding this year, thanks to strong support from the town and from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, but the Winchester community greatly needs cultural investment after the stress and isolation of the past few years, as well as continuing disruptions from construction in the center and throughout the town. Reference Librarian Jeff Klapes is back for another of his popular armchair travel presentations. This time we'll visit Scotland's two biggest cities, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Learn about their rich history, amazing museums and incredible architecture. Jeff is the retired Head of Reference Services at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library in Wakefield, Massachusetts, and an avid traveler and photographer.

Griffin Member Networking Event | October

Griffin Terrace Midsummer Beer Garden

As part of the Griffin Terrace Series, Arts Winchester presents a summer beer garden with live music performed by Glenn Dickson and the Shirim Klezmer Orchestra.

Shirim has played concerts and festivals across the United States, Canada and Europe since 1982. Nationally recognized for their traditional playing, they are also known for their pioneering crossover projects: Klezmer Nutcracker, Maurice Sendak's Pincus, and The Golden Dreydl (with Ellen Kushner).  They have performed with the Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, at the Montreal Jazz Festival and at Lincoln Center!

Guitar Dept. Playing Over Chord Changes Workshop

Have you wanted to improve your ability to play solos quickly and smoothly on the guitar? In this workshop, Guitar & Contemporary Music Department Chair Aiden Schnell will teach participants the basics of playing over simple chord changes using chord shapes and the pentatonic scale.
Open to all guitar players ages 12+ with at least three years of lessons. Please bring your instrument!
Free for WCMS students; $15 for the general public. Advance registration is required.
