Please join us for the first Faculty Concert of 2024-2025 featuring the Sempervirens Ensemble at Winchester Community Music School. Four virtuoso recorder players (Heloise Degrugillier, Dan Meyers, Emily O'Brien, and Roy Sansom) will present a program which comprises music from the 14th century to this year. Works will include Baroque keyboard pieces, a medieval Estampie, one of Ligiti's Bagatelles for Wind Quintet, the scherzo from Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream, a short piano prelude by Prokofiev, and more. Faculty Concert: Romancing the Winds

Come enjoy two exquisite and romantic chamber pieces performed by a woodwind quintet with piano, a rare combination in chamber music. The first half of the program will consist of a beautiful wind chamber piece by Mozart, Quintet for Winds and Piano in E flat major, K452. The second half will feature Beethoven's Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat Major, Op. 16. Faculty performers and special guests will include Kyoko Hida-Battaglia, oboe; Glenn Dickson, clarinet; Dr. Jacky Ho-Yin Li, French horn; Sally Merriman, bassoon; and Dr. Sarah Tocco, piano.

Fall Ensemble Auditions

No matter what instrument you play, we probably have an ensemble for you!
Ensembles at WCMS offer opportunities for students to be mentored by professional faculty members, play with other musicians, understand the roles of different band members, and perform in front of an audience. By connecting with other like-minded creative individuals, you'll cultivate relationships and develop your personal musical expression. Each ensemble will be curated by matching the level, age, and skill of the musicians, and scheduled based on the availability of coaches and participants.
