Based on her new book The Wreck of the Royal Tar, author Jane Parks Gardner presents a gripping multimedia program that brings to life one of New England's most haunting maritime disasters. The talk explores the history of the ill-fated steamship, the immigrant experience of many passengers, the colorful world of 19th-century traveling circuses, and the perils of sea travel in the 1830s.

Board Game Bonanza

Join us to learn a new board game or play an old favorite. Simply drop in and librarians will be available to set up a group of players and teach the rules if needed. Games that will be available include: Dragonwood, KIngdomino, and Machi Koro, plus more! For kids in 3rd to 5th grade, no registration required.

Creepy Crawlies and Other Creatures of the Night

At this time of year, we often think about the creepy creatures of the animal world, including many that are active at night. Learn about some of the amazing talents of these creepy animal friends and what you can do to help them help us! How do you hiss without using your mouth? Eat by using a built-in straw? From animals that look creepy like spiders and bats, to those that just sound creepy, many of these creatures are important predators that help us unseen under the cover of darkness.
