Winchester Friends of Music (WFOM) is a volunteer organization made up of parents and community members. Originally founded in 1985 and newly organized as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 2021, WFOM supports the music program in Winchester Public Schools and has begun to expand to other music-related initiatives in Winchester, such as Winchester Porchfest.
Our primary goals are to raise funds and provide volunteer support for the entire Winchester Public Schools music department and to help inform the community of upcoming music events.
We welcome new people year round!
Every year we give out school grants to use for music supplies and music enrichment programs not covered by the school budget. In addition to funding smaller items, WFOM has spearheaded larger fundraising campaigns when there is a special need. In 2014, WFOM contributed $7,500 towards the purchase of new timpani drums and in 2011 we raised $50,000 to purchase nearly 100 uniforms for the marching band. We also provide 6 scholarships to graduating seniors chosen by the WHS Music Department and provide funding for all awards given by the WHS Music Department to graduating seniors.
