Shibori Indigo Dyeing (Level 1)

Winchester artist, Kiyomi Yatsuhashi will lead this one-day workshop on the Japanese craft of shibori and indigo dyeing. She will start with a brief introduction to Japanese textile resist dyeing. Demonstrations and practice will include shibori resist techniques such as binding, folding, wrapping, and clamping to create dyed patterns. You'll bring home indigo dyed unfinished cotton pieces that can be used for a quilt, wall hanging, table scarf, or napkin.

Limited to eight participants.

Materials Fee of $25 is included in the tuition fee and covers the cost of indigo dyes, tools

Shibori Indigo Dyeing (Level 2)

Winchester artist, Kiyomi Yatsuhashi will lead this one-day advanced-beginner level workshop on the Japanese craft of shibori and indigo dyeing. This class builds upon skills gained in Shibori Indigo Dyeing (Level 1)*. In this workshop, Kiyomi will review basic processes and introduce two specific techniques: stitch shibori and pole wrapping. Students will dive right in, choosing to practice one or both techniques.

You'll bring home indigo dyed unfinished cotton pieces that can be used for a quilt, wall hanging, table scarf, or napkin.

Winchester artist Kiyomi Yatsuhashi returns to Studio on the Common with this one-day workshop on the Japanese craft of shibori and indigo dyeing. Demonstrations and practice will include shibori resist techniques such as binding, folding, wrapping, and clamping to create dyed patterns. You'll bring home indigo dyed unfinished cotton pieces that can be used for a quilt, wall hanging, table scarf, or napkin.

Included in the workshop is one small finished scarf or bandana.
