The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) hears and decides applications for special permits, petitions for variances from the terms of the zoning bylaws, site plan approvals as mandated by the zoning ordinance, and appeals from decisions of the zoning enforcement officer (building commissioner).
Composition
The Board of Appeals shall consist of three members, who shall be appointed by the Select Board, for terms of such length and so arranged that the term of one member shall expire each year. The Select Board shall appoint at least two, but no more than three, associate members for terms of such length and so arranged that the term of one associate member shall expire each year. Any vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term as in the case of original appointments.
